The 2022 TBirds Training Camp is approaching!  The Boys and Co-Ed groups begin on August 15th and the Girls groups on August 22nd.  Meet our co-directors, Matt Foley and John Leonard.

Matt Foley - Matt has served as a director of the training camp since 2016.  This year, his second as a pro, the defenseman played with the Tucson RoadRunners, the AHL affiliate of the Arizona Coyotes.  He played his collegiate hockey at Yale University and several years with the Springfield Rifles, now Jr. Thunderbirds, whom he also coaches.

"What makes TBirds Training Camp unique is that it really is a training camp.  It falls right before the season and the ice sessions are run accordingly.  Getting the participants back in hockey shape, sharpening up their skills, and building good habits, allows them to hit the ice running.  Feeling 100% right from the start really benefits them throughout the entirety of the season." - Matt

John Leonard - John has been involved with the training camp for years, having also spent his early playing career with the Rifles.  Since then, the forward had an all-star college hockey career with the University Of Massachusetts, leading all NCAA players in goals as a junior, before signing with the San Jose Sharks of the NHL, where he has played for the past two seasons.

"This training camp has always been a great experience.  It means a lot to work with kids who play for the same teams as we did at their age.  We take a lot of pride in developing our favorite concepts and training techniques, learned from all the places our careers have taken us, and bringing them back home for camp." - John
